Post-baccalaureate Intern

Expertise and Research Interests:

Max Savery, Post-baccalaureate Intern, joined the Communications Engineering Branch, LHNCBC, in July 2018 as a post-baccalaureate intern (postbac). His undergraduate education was in genetics and molecular biology, and for his first 10 months at the NIDDK, he researched sex differentiation in Drosophila melanogaster (the fruit fly). Feeling the need to train in the computational side of research, particularly in NLP, text mining, and machine learning, he transferred to LHNCBC and is now working on the Medical Text Indexer and other text analysis projects with Dr. Dina Demner-Fushman.
